PhD student in Particle Physics Phenomenology
at Uppsala University
This position has now been filled.
We received 65 applications, of which we formed a shortlist of five candidates. We have now interviewed these candidates and have offered the position to one of them.
A PhD student position is available in the Theoretical High Energy Physics group within the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University. The group currently consists of three faculty members, one postdoc, two graduate students, and three diploma students. We are now in the process of recruiting a graduate student.

Our group does research in particle physics at the high energy frontier to study matter and its interactions on the most fundamental level. Our approach is theoretical, but in close contact with experimental reality, a research field known as phenomenology. The Standard Model for quarks and leptons with electroweak and strong interactions has been very successful, but leaves fundamental unsolved problems, such as the confinement of quarks and gluons into hadrons, the origin of electroweak symmetry breaking, and the generation of particle masses. Theories beyond the Standard Model—which may provide solutions—are therefore of great importance. Our research group collaborates internationally with focus on the theory of strong interactions, quantum chromodynamics (QCD), and theories beyond the Standard Model with projects concerning:
