Division of Nuclear and Particle Physics

In the fields of Nuclear Physics, Hadron Physics, Elementary Particle Physics and Astroparticle Physics we study the smallest building blocks of matter and their interactions. Experiments are made with electrons, protons, ions and neutrinos from accelerators and from outer space to investigate the fundamental structure of matter and of cosmos.
We also develop techiques used in basic research for applications in energy research, information technology and medicine.
